WorkFlowy: Note, List, Outline App Reviews

Elegant, simple, functional

Workflowy does something very simple flawlessly. You can create tiered lists by simply tabbing items. Whatever gets tabbed is now an item in that list. By tabbing multiple times, you can make lists within lists. Thats it. Its that bare-bones approach that makes it so good, though. The load times are tiny. The layout makes it easy to organize anything and everything you write. There is nothing to get confused about. Workflowy takes all of the pomp and circumstance out of a list app, leaving something that just WORKS

Would like to do what is on the web

The multiple options available on each bullet on the web not there in app Not able to select text across nested buckets

Simply the best

And getting better all the time

Perfect App

Ive been using this for almost a year now. This app is so simple, yet gives you so much freedom when it comes to organizing thoughts. I use it as a planner, for taking notes, handling bookmarks and storing contact info. Its so versatile.

Glad it exists, but could be better

This app is great to see my list(s) and mark stuff complete, but its tough to edit lists using the app. Im forever in edit mode when I dont want to be, or in "move" mode when I want to edit. And the star function is missing. I love the Chrome app and wish I could edit as easily with the iOS app as on my laptop.

Disappointing iOS implementation

The Workflowy concept is great, this implementation leaves a lot to be desired. How about simply being able to tap / menu pick / delete an item? Too much to ask? I guess so. You have to backspace away in order to delete. Ridiculous.

My first negative review after 4+ years of iPad apps

Rarely have I been as disappointed with an app as I am with this counter productive and ill-designed waste of ones productive efforts. This stems less from the overall quality of other free apps and more from the confusingly absent ability to simply cut and paste ones work (let alone export into another word document or app) after completing it on the WorkFlowy iPad app. This is my first experience with an app actually hindering my ability to use it productively. In brief: one cannot export nor select and copy text after working on an outline or project. Its worth noting that although the app was free, I downloaded three other similar apps at the same time that while rated lower, still possessed the very basic feature of allowing the user to transport his/her work to another app, document, or outline.

Love this app!

A great, simple to use, but powerful To Do app. Lists are easy to create. And its easy to move items between lists around.

Just what Ive been looking for!

This is a great productivity tool to use to keep track of your life and thoughts! I just discovered this a couple days ago and already love it! If youre looking for a sort of "notebook" you can keep on your phone for ALL your todo lists, thoughts, journals, project outlines, etc etc, this is the app/service for you! I took a small amount of time to watch their YouTube videos to understand what is going on. While they are lacking documentation within the app/site itself, they do seem to have documentation available if you just use google. I will say though that the app version versus the website version is far behind in terms of features. It is difficult to copy and paste (or not possible, I still havent figured it out) lists and sub lists currently, there are no menus that pop up over the bullets like desktop website has, no shortcut keys or options in app ver, and probably more. Also no ability to add pictures is a bummer, but you could upload them to a "cloud" and just paste a link to it instead I guess. So -1 star for these problems. None of those are necessary to get started and make it useful. Otherwise if you use it in conjunction with the desktop website version it syncs automatically so you can do your hardcore editing there and minor updating and reference on your phone. I can already feel it changing my life. I have always wanted to be able to refer to any notes or to do lists from anywhere I am in the world, rather than scattered or forgotten in my house never to be seen again.

Core functionality is unmatched

The app leaves much to be desired, however, the core functionality of infinitely nested lists that can each become their own page is a type of freedom found nowhere else.

Disappointed

My daughter tried to turn me onto Workflowy, but I have been very disappointed with its functionality on my iPad 2. Since I only own an iPad 2 and iPhone 6 it is probably not going to work out for me. It is very limited in the iOS format, so if youre like me and your primary computing devices are iOS youll probably be very frustrated and disappointed. A pro version might be nice with expanded functionality, but I have not heard that one is going to be offered. Good day!

Clunky and restricted

I think the Workflowy website is good, and I use it daily. But this app on iOS makes me tempted to stop depending on Workflowy because it doesnt allow "drag and drop" to rearrange items. Also, its interface is clunky and sometimes has rendering issues, especially when scrolling. I expected better.

Support 5UCKS

First, this is a decent app. It has its flaws, but overall it is decent. We purchased a team account. It was our understanding that we would be able to share lists and be able to have multiple participants add to, edit and delete items on our lists. After 7 days of sending email after email to support, we have yet to receive a SINGLE REPONSE! We have "Pro Support" being that we have a team account. I would really hate to need support with a basic account. So today, I disputed the charge on our American Express care and deleted the app.

A+++ would list again

Who doesnt love lists? I make lists of everything, and workflowy has nested lists so you can have list inception. You can share your nested lists publicly or privately. It does a lot of stuff, and if you upgrade it does even more stuff. After two years I still use it almost every day.

Elegance in Zooming

No app I know of reveals only the information you need and nothing you dont with as little friction and mental drag. Thank you for making my mind function better. - G

This is the BEST list making app...period

Update: I use this every day. Its my task manager/todo list, my not taker, and project manager all-in-one. The app is not as fully functional as the web version, buts still good. With this app, I can customize my lists the way I need them to be. No constraints to work around, just simple, free-form lists. The use of tags is so helpful. This is the only list-making app I need.

Missing ease of use

Arrow keys on ipad keyboard doesnt work Cant copy and paste multiple items Keyboard actions to complete item Doesnt integrate with evernote

Great start - but iOS needs love... lots of love

The app itself needs to be native and basic functionality like reordering and zooming in should be more refined and feel more like the chrome app. It is fumbly and strange on iOS. Love the app and the methodology but cant use the iOS version because it feels like a website. Im looking forward to some serious updates and a more mobile focused workflow specifically built for iOS.

DO NOT USE

forces you to give up your email so that they later spam you with marketing emails, it also requires you to create an account so that it later uploads to the the developers of the app your private info from the app. SPYWARE! BEWARE!

Game Grumps

I wonder who got this app because of Game Grumps. I know I did.
